The Illustrated London News
The Illustrated London News was a long-running weekly magazine from the UK. The publication had a definite bias towards the British Conservative Party and often featured articles and news coverage of events relating to the Royal family.
The Illustrated London News also contained coverage of world news, scientific discoveries and many other topical subjects along with short fiction by popular authors including E. F. Benson, whose short tale of the macabre, “Gavon’s Eve,” appears in the issue published on January 13, 1906.
In 1971, the magazine switched to monthly publication then, in the late 1980s, it became a quarterly magazine. By 1994, there were only two issues a year. In May 2024, Illustrated London News Ltd went into administration and, after nearly 200 years of publication was discontinued for good.
