The Weird Circle: Radio Show Episode List and Information

Cave by the Haunted Sea with a weird circle at the end

The Weird Circle was an American radio show broadcast between 1943 and 1947. The series consisted of 78 shows, including dramatizations of famous classic tales of horror like Robert Louis Stevenson’s “The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde” and Guy de Maupassant’s “The Hand”.

The show was taped in New York and although the recordings were adequately done, The Weird Circle lacked the character of other similar shows of the era, possibly because it did not have the same level of talent to draw upon. In many cases, the most memorable part of the show was the introductory speech:

“In this cave by the restless sea, we are met to call from out of past, stories strange and weird. Bell keeper, toll the bell, so that all may know that we are gathered again in The Weird Circle.”

Or in some cases the alternate introduction:

Out of the past, phantoms from a world gone by speak again the immortal tale . . .”
